Soft Polluted Blacks
Acrylic, mixed media on polystyrene and canvas (2014) 66 x 97cm
I worked for a long time in South Africa and was at one time responsible for the politics of 27 African countries for my job. I have imagined in many forms the mystery and the magics of that continent and one vision which kept returning was the one of a croc showing the human catch in its belly and dreaming of more catches. The symbolism hints back at the greediness of the dominating classes, be they colonialists or kleptocratic regimes. The whole work is interspersed with three dimensional additions.
